Yes, Soup For You!
Some like it hot! And that's just the way the Florida Panthers hockey team plans on serving it. On March 15, the Florida Panthers will host the 7th annual "Waiter, There's a Puck in My Soup" dinner at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa. The event is presented by Office Depot and Lexus, and the cocktail reception and silent auction are sponsored by Millennium Laser Eye Centers. All proceeds benefit the Sun-Sentinel Children's Fund.
"Our sponsors, fans, players, and their families combine to make this one of the best charitable events in pro sports," stated Red Deer Randy Moller, the Panthers Director of Community Development. "The entire extended Panthers' organization provides personal dinner service. All Star Roberto Luongo, Captain Olli Jokinen, Val Bure and the other veterans have become pretty good waiters over the years. They'll be teaching the young guys how to serve the soup hot and with a smile."
"I don't think there is a major league sports team today that offers their fans more chances to interact with their players than the Florida Panthers," said Chief Operating Officer Michael Yormark. "This year we've hosted golf and pool tournaments, a skate-with-the-team GameOn, HockeyFest, a Season Seat Holder signing, and Kids Month in January where every player signed post-game autographs. This event adds to a tremendous year of fan interaction."
Millennium, celebrating its fifth year serving the community, was planning to hold its own charitable event in March. "The synergies created by the dovetailing of these events promises to create a function that will exceed the sum of its parts," said Cory M. Lessner, M.D., the Medical Director of Millennium Laser Eye Centers and the official team LASIK surgeon for the Panthers. "In addition to the Florida Panthers, we expect that several current and former players from the Miami Dolphins and Florida Marlins will be in attendance. The vacation, luxury, and sports memorabilia items available for auction this year should also be incredible." For one, Candace Cameron Bure will auction a Panthers jersey signed by the cast and the special guest stars of Friends. The jersey was signed at the taping of the last episode in Los Angeles.
Seating is limited. For reservations, call the Florida Panthers at 954-835-7725 or 835-PUCK.
