Millennium Laser Eye Centers was Main Sponsor for Fund-Raising Event that Benefits Those Affected by Blood-Related Cancers
SUNRISE, FL - Millennium Laser Eye Centers (www.mleye.com) is proud to have been the main sponsor of a fund-raising event, with proceeds benefiting LivinG PromiseS, (www.livingpromises.org) a non-profit organization that assists those affected by blood-related cancers.
LivinG PromiseS celebrated its signature holiday fund-raising event on November 10th. The South Florida-based organization hosted Comedy Night at the IMPROV, which is located at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood. Veteran comedian Daniel Tosh took the stage. The event included an outdoor cocktail reception and a silent auction, featuring sports memorabilia, as well as spa and golf packages.
"We appreciate the support of local companies that believe in our mission and can underwrite programming costs, so that a greater percentage of the money we raise can go directly to helping the families," said Lisa Russey, a leukemia and bone marrow transplant survivor and one of three founders of LivinG PromiseS. "Millennium Laser Eye Centers has helped us financially as well as spreading the word to make this event successful."
"We are so proud to be able to help LivinG PromiseS achieve its mission of supporting those patients and families affected by blood-related cancer," said Dr. Cory M. Lessner, medical director at Millennium Laser Eye Centers. "We know LivinG PromiseS' hard work helps so many families."
For those who didn't attend the event, Russey, as well as founders Joy Gold and Valerie Pitt, all affected by blood-related cancers, are encouraging the public to visit the LivinG PromiseS Web site, www.livingpromises.org, and make a contribution for such a worthwhile cause.
The organization delivers gifts to cancer patients in the hospital, donates supplies at the beginning of the school year, and distributes these donations throughout the year.
Also, LivinG PromiseS, is able to send children to actor Paul Newman's Camp Boggy Creek located near Orlando.
"Our mission is to create programs that can support the patients and their loved ones by alleviating some of the emotional and financial pressures they can experience," said Russey.

LivinG PromiseS™ is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation that was founded by three women whose lives have been affected by blood-related cancers. Joy Gold watched as her son Spencer battled Leukemia and held onto his promise to her that he would live. The second, Lisa Russey, is a Leukemia and Bone Marrow Transplant survivor who during her treatments made a promise to help others - she stood by her brother Rick as he struggled with Leukemia and held him when he ultimately succumbed to the cancer. The third, Valerie Pitt, has promised her dear friend Grace, a mother of 3 who has battled Lymphoma that she will support other similarly affected families through fundraising and volunteer efforts. Each of these women are keenly aware of the challenges faced when someone is diagnosed with a life threatening illness.
