September 15, 2004

SUNRISE, FL - Cory Lessner, MD, the Medical Director of Millennium Laser Eye Centers, (www.mleye.com) and the team LASIK surgeon for the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, and the Florida Panthers has announced the Centers' first annual essay writing contest. The topic: "How Medicine or Health Care in General has Impacted My Life."

The best essay writer will be awarded the top prize, a $2020 scholarship to the college of their choice. The second place winner receives a $750 scholarship and the third place winner receives a $500 scholarship. Applicants are not required to pursue studies in the medical field.

"We are thrilled to be offering this chance for this area's students to express themselves through their writing," said Dr. Lessner, who is one of the few Board Certified surgeons in the country whose practice is limited to vision correction. "This is one way for us to encourage young people to get involved with medicine at a young age."

All South Florida high school students in good standing are eligible to compete in the essay writing contest. Students interested in participating in the competition must complete an application and submit an essay of 150 to 500 words.

All essays must be sent via regular mail and post-marked no later than January 31, 2005, and sent to: 2005 Essay Contest, Millennium Laser Eye Centers, 1601 Sawgrass Corporate Parkway, Suite 410, Sunrise, Florida 33323. All entries become the property of Millennium Laser Eye Centers.

A panel of judges will evaluate the essays.
