Lasik Surgeon Announces Scholarship Winners of 2005 High School Essay Contest
"How Medicine or Health Care in General has Impacted My Life"
November 2, 2005

SUNRISE, FL - Cory Lessner, MD, the Medical Director of Millennium Laser Eye Centers and the team LASIK surgeon for the Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, and the Florida Panthers has announced the winners of the Centers' 2005 essay writing contest. The topic: "How Medicine or Health Care in General has Impacted My Life."

The following high school students have received their scholarships.

"I am honored that my essay was selected as the best," said Jaime Sasso of Gulliver Prep.

"The contest was very competitive, said Dr. Lessner, who is one of the few Board Certified surgeons in the country whose practice is limited to vision correction. "We received hundreds of essays from all over South Florida. This is one way for us to encourage young people to get involved with medicine at a young age."

Florida Marlins player Jeff Conine was among the judges who reviewed the essays.

All South Florida high school students in good standing were eligible to compete in the essay writing contest.
